WE ARE TOPEKA UNITED

TOPEKA UNITED: A MOVEMENT

Who are we?
Topeka United began in 2019 as a group of individuals coming together after the 65th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, which made segregation illegal in U.S. public schools. The diverse group sought to continue the work toward full inclusion in our neighborhoods and across our communities, starting within ourselves. That inaugural Topeka United leadership team laid the groundwork for TU to remain engaged around the community, spreading knowledge and positivity at local events promoting cultural and spiritual diversity and inclusion.

TU's Mission and Vision

Mission: Celebrate diversity and welcome all within the Topeka community to engage in meaningful dialogue and collective action, centering equity and opportunity.

Vision: Build an inclusive and prosperous Topeka dedicated to breaking down barriers and building community, through the consistent recognition and celebration of diverse individuals and groups.
Our Guiding Principles

Inclusive: We strive to be totally inclusive in looking back, in
looking forward, and in our engagement today.
Constructive: We are constructive always; we build on our
foundation, and as we build, we grow.
Attitude of Gratitude: We aim to appreciate when intentions
were good, even if things didn’t turn out well.
Truth: We believe facts and feelings are real and worthy of consideration.
Respect: We value respect, knowing it should be offered and sustained before, during, and after interactions, always.
More about us

Current Initiatives
Through our Common Threads program and community events, Topeka United continuously works to break down barriers and unite the community ONE RELATIONSHIP AT A TIME. We invite all to take our pledge and commit to taking steps toward full inclusion across the community. YOU could be part of the movement!
