School/Youth-based (age 4-22)

Committed to examining how race impacts student learning and achievement rates. Meets on the 4th Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Burnett Center, 624 SW 24th Street, in the Board Room. Community members are welcomed to attend and join. Hosts symposiums and equity talks throughout the year. Partners with the Midwest and Plains Equity Center for training and professional development resources. Work is centered around the tenets of Pacific Education Group's Courageous Conversations about Race. Staff and student equity teams are embedded within individual schools. NAACP Youth Council 4715  Comprised of but not limited to African American Youth who work to raise awareness of issues and concerns facing African American Youth not just in Topeka but the country.
