Common Threads is community building in action, providing the space and resources to center deep, sustained relationship building across differences. This nine-month program (the successor to Mosaic Partner Pairs) is extended-term engagement designed to strengthen the shared fabric of our community.

At the core of the Common Threads experience lies the belief that forging meaningful connections between individuals who may differ in appearance, worship, or familial and communal ties is crucial to fostering community health and prosperity. In Topeka, our aim is to embrace diversity in all forms, weaving race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, ability, age, geographic location, and economic background. We recognize that inclusivity across these spectrums strengthens our community fabric, allowing everyone to contribute to and benefit from a more vibrant, resilient Topeka.
A Look at One Participant's Mosaic Experience (Topeka United's early years): "We share our hearts and perspectives without fear of judgment. Though I felt I was fairly knowledgeable about blatant and subtle racism, its impact on my brothers and sisters of different races, and their perspectives, my discussions with Brandi and my small group, have helped me expand my understanding, broadened my social justice network, and given me information that I can share with others to educate and enlighten them.
